Donny Osmond recently marked a massive milestone in his marriage life and shared a heartwarming post. The singer and his wife married in 1978 despite his father's opposition. They later welcomed five sons together.
Hearts simultaneously shattered more than four decades ago when former teen idol Donny Osmond tied the knot with Debbie Glenn. He was 20, and she was 19.
In honor of their 45th anniversary, Osmond took to Instagram and shared a black and white throwback photo of the couple, both flashing toothed smiles. He wrote:
"I asked this sweet little girl named Debbie Glenn to marry me 45 years ago today. It was the best decision of my life. 👩❤️👨"
A few fans recalled how heartbroken they were upon learning of Osmond's wedding. One fan shared, "I remember when you got married. A million young hearts were broken. Congratulations ❤️ ❤️ ❤️.”
One user added, "😂16 year old me was so sad when you asked Debbie Glenn to marry you 45 years ago today because I loved Donny Osmond liked every other girl! You know what? The path down the aisle proved to be a challenging one. The "I'll Make a Man Out of You" crooner's father firmly opposed the union and warned about his career flopping.
Osmond's father had been right. But the "Soldier of Love" singer said that his life would've been a mess if he hadn't married Glenn. "Now I had someone who understood me and with whom I could build a future together," he shared.
The "Go Away Little Girl" songster met the love of his life when she was 15 and pursued her for three years. Since then, Osmond has commended Glenn for stabilizing his life and keeping his feet on the ground.
But according to him, their successful marriage didn't happen overnight. The former heartthrob had to keep his ego in check during arguments. "I like to joke that when we argue, Debbie is always right – but I'm only half-joking," he said.
