Kyle Richards gets emotional while discussing longtime Best Friend, Lorene Shea, says she was ‘my other half’
Kyle Richards gets emotional while talking about the ‘huge loss’ of her longtime best friend, Lorene Shea, who passed away by suicide in May 2022.
May 1, my very, very, very best friend in my whole life- I can’t even say the words- but she took her life on May 1,” Richards opens up to her life coach on Wednesday’s episode of ‘The Real Housewife of Beverly Hills.’
“I don’t know what happened because she was so together. I mean, even in my will, she was in charge of my children, my money, everything.”
The 54-year-old contestant got emotional while discussing their relationship, telling the producers that her connection with her best friend was so strong that it felt like they were ‘separated at birth.’ She said she met Shea for the first time when they were only seven. She called her ‘her other half.’
“She’s definitely the most important person in my life outside of my family, who knows more about me than anybody else- including my husband- you know, your best friend all those years knows everything,” she said as an image of the two appeared on the screen.
Richards shared her feelings about the harrowing incident, which shook her to her very core, and says she still finds the loss ‘frustrating’ because she ‘does not know what happened’ or ‘have answers’ as to why her friend decided to end her life.
“To lose someone like that who is like your constant in your life, I never had a falling out with her,” she continued with tears in her eyes, “She’d be the person I’d talk to about my sisters. I just never imagined that something like this could happen. Never.”
Richard paid tribute to her late friend on social media in May 2022, calling her friend a “kind, thoughtful, funny, smart, beautiful, and sentimental’ friend. Richards opened up about her friend’s ailment and said she was suffering from ‘debilitating depression’ and the ‘system made it impossible to get her the help she needed.”
Richards hosted an event with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to raise awareness for mental health and pay homage to her late friend.
“I want to honor her and bring everyone together here tonight and raise awareness and funds because I really want people to know that there is help out there.”
